ADVENTUS - Laughter

When I was first given this word I thought it was somewhat of a strange word to be used In advent. It's also somewhat unusual to be in connection with church and religion.

We don't think of church as a place where we come to laugh or have fun.

In Proverbs 17:22, it says "A joyful heart is good medicine but a broken spirit dries up the bones"

In church we're supposed to be reserved, somber, humble, quiet. In today's world we are cautious, concerned, scared and afraid of something we cannot see. We are driven in multiple directions guided by the loudest voice. We have lost our way. We have forgotten who we are and where we have come from. We have forgotten our core values We live in the greatest country on the Earth and we live in the best of times. So let the fun begin When we laugh our heart rate increases which allows more oxygenated blood to throw flow through our body. This makes us feel so much better and helps our immune system. One of the things in preparing for this devotion I did a search to see if Jesus ever laughed. There wasn't any specific reference to Jesus laughing but you'll hear the stories of all the children coming to Jesus Children wouldn't gravitate to a person that didn't laugh. So my prayer for you today is to find the good in everything and in the good find joy and in the joy, laugh. Laugh everyday. Laugh as much as you can. For if we cannot laugh or have laughter in our lives we are doomed. So in this advent season may you smile all the time due to the laughter you find in the joy of living.
