There are 116 references to waiting found in the bible. Perhaps this is an important topic.

Webster’s Dictionary defines wait as “to stay in place until an expected event happens, until someone arrives, until it is your turn to do something…to not do something until something else happens; to remain in a state in which you expect or hope that something will happen soon.”

But waiting is not something we are good at. We are raised to be in charge of the situation. We want to shift the balance of a result in our favor. We just don’t have the patience. We don’t understand the whole situation. We want it our way, And so on and so on and so on…..

Too many times we challenge God to provide the answer we want in our time. We make our demands without listening to what He is asking us to do or waiting for His plan to play out.

We have heard many times “God’s timing is not our timing”. How true this is. In all cases when we have the obedience to acknowledge God’s direction, and the patience to wait for God’s plan to come to fruition we see that His plan is better than our plan.

My favorite three verses related to trusting God’s plan in God’s timing are

God’s Plan: Proverbs 3:5-6

Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.

God’s Timing: Psalm 27:14

Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.

And from my favorite book of the bible: Ecclesiastes 3:1

There is an appointed time for everything. And there is a time for every event under heaven.
