Christmas is a Christian Feast commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ, and is usually observed as a legal holiday. It is observed by Christians and non-Christians. Therefore, the meaning of Christmas varies among people.
Christmas makes you think of family getting together, sharing gifts, eating meals. Recalling memories of Christmases’ past with loved ones that are no longer with us, decorating Christmas trees and homes, singing Christmas carols, watching Christmas movies/shows, baking cookies and gingerbread men, driving around neighborhoods looking at decorations, going to Christmas Eve Church service, reading the Christmas Story and putting baby Jesus in the Manger of the Nativity.
We can get caught up in the Holiday Festivities, but we need to reflect on the true “Reason for the Season – Jesus Christ”.
Read John 1:1-5
Jesus has been with God the Father before creation. He was born human to become our Savior and Redeemer. As He walked on this earth, He gave us an example of how to live, how to love, how to care and how to forgive. If we live our lives as Jesus taught us, we will be in Christmas celebration every day of the year! We will be loving God above all and loving our neighbors.
Looking at the picture we chose for our word, “Christmas” and reflecting on our Bible reading, “John 1:1-5”, we see Jesus looking at creation from the heavens and how He could foretell scenes of His earthly life; His birth, baptism, teachings, last supper with disciples, crucifixion, resurrection, ascension back to Heaven. And He did it for you and me, so that we could overcome this world, be redeemed and live for eternity with Him in Heaven.
HE IS OUR GREATEST GIFT!!! AMEN
Merry Christmas and May God Bless each of You!!!
