4 kinds of People Covered in Proverbs
from the Wisdom of Solomon
1. The SIMPLE
The simple is somebody who is not wise – clueless.
There is a bit of this “simpleness” in all of us, because we actually think we know best. (Proverbs 7:7)
We need people who have our backs and will speak into our lives.
Young people please remember you have not lived long enough to make every decision about your life on your own.
Trust your parents, your spiritual friends and the leadership God has put over you.
The cure for the simple: TIME
You need to live long enough or have people around you who have lived long enough – who can speak into your life.
2. The FOOL
The Bible has a lot to say about foolish people. – People who just don’t care.
The fool knows when something is wrong, but yet choses to go ahead with it!
“I know what the label says, but I’d rather have that in my body right now…”
“I will take my chances…” Proverbs 10:23
There is a little bit of a ‘fool’ in all of us. We ask the fool – why on earth would you do that?
The cure for foolishness is: TRAGEDY.
Sometimes it takes a tragedy to convert us from a foolish heart. God doesn’t create the tragedy but He will use tragedy to get our attention.
Someone said, “Every tragedy has a lesson equal in significance to its heartbreak.”
God is a restorer, He will take the worst time of our life and turn it around for good – if we let Him. And there is purpose to our pain.
3. The MOCKER/ SCOFFER
The mocker is the fool on steroid; they take things to another level. The Bully!
Not only does he/she do what is wrong and foolish – but they criticize the person who does that which is right.
There are lots of mockers on social media. They love to make comments just to mess up your life. The Bible says we ought not to engage with a mocker (Proverbs 9:7-8)
A mocker lives for debate and you will be abused if you participate with these people. Mockers will not change when rebuked, they will hate you.
There is only one cure for the mocker: GOD
God will have to do something in the mocker’s life!
4. The WISE
The wise is not a person who is smarter, more education, understands the Bible better, or lived a long time. The person who is wise is teachable! (Proverbs 9:9)
The wise when instructed will immediately say “Thank you for telling me that!”
Wise people are pliable. They do not have a defence mechanism.
We all need God and others who love God to speak into our lives and correct us.
Proverbs 9:10 ‘Fear of the Lord is the foundation of wisdom. Knowledge of the Holy One results in good judgment.’
