When Adam and Eve taste the forbidden fruit, they are immediately changed. They see each other, and themselves, different. Life is now infused with Shame, Fear and Self-loathing. What they don't yet have is regret, remorse and repentance. When God comes looking for them, He ask three questions to draw them out of the darkness.
This Sunday we look at these questions and how they reflect on our lives today and into the future.
The rest of the Scriptural narrative is God's pursuit of the children he loves who prefer the darkness to the His heavenly home.
"This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed. But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God." John 3:19-21
