Why is Church so Hard?

Can we be honest for a minute? Let's face it, church is hard! Yes there are plenty of good people, with good, caring hearts called by God to share the light of Christ in the darkest recesses of our world. Every church has its saints and sinners that make every gathering a family of faith. Yet sometimes, this amazing community drawn together by this amazing mission can seem to fall, well... a bit flat. We struggle with control issues, we are divided by our pride and we nurture our grudges and grievances until there's more fear than faith.

Tom Hanks in the movie "League of their own" said it best, "of course its hard. Its the Hard that makes it great!"

People of the new testament were well acquainted with adversity. Why should we expect to be an exception? In 2 Corinthians 12, Paul talks about his Thorn In The Flesh and its purpose for his character and God's Glory.

If you have a problem that just won't go away, despite the hours of prayer or the sleepless nights, perhaps this problem has a purpose worth exploring.
